Table Lamps FAQ

Your guide to a confident purchase

What size table lamp should I choose?

The lamp should suit the scale of the table and surrounding furniture. A large lamp may overwhelm a small side table, while a very small lamp may appear out of proportion on a large console or bedside table.

How tall should a bedside table lamp be?

The bottom of the lampshade should sit close to eye level when you are seated or lying in bed. This helps provide useful light without shining directly into your eyes.

What type of globe is best for a table lamp?

An LED globe with the correct base, shape and maximum wattage is usually the most efficient option. Warm white around 2700K to 3000K is commonly used for bedside and living-room lamps.

Can LED globes be used in touch lamps?

Yes, but the LED globe must be compatible with the touch lamp and its dimming system. Some touch lamps require a dimmable globe or have a minimum load requirement.

What is the difference between task lighting and ambient lamp lighting?

Task lighting provides focused light for reading, studying or detailed work. Ambient lamp lighting creates a softer background glow and contributes to the overall atmosphere of the room.
