Spherical Globes FAQ

Your guide to a confident purchase

What is the difference between a carbon filament and an LED filament globe?

A carbon filament globe uses traditional incandescent technology and consumes more power while producing significant heat. An LED filament globe recreates the exposed-filament appearance using more energy-efficient LED technology.

Does the shape of a globe affect its light output?

The shape can affect how the light is distributed and whether the globe fits inside a shade. However, the lumen rating remains the best way to compare overall brightness.

What is a decorative globe?

A decorative globe is designed to be visible as part of the fitting. Common examples include oversized globes, candle shapes, tinted glass, filament globes and patterned glass designs.

What colour temperature creates a vintage lighting effect?

Extra warm colour temperatures between approximately 2200K and 2700K create a softer amber appearance commonly associated with vintage lighting.

Can decorative LED globes be dimmed?

Some decorative LED globes are dimmable, but this must be confirmed in the specifications. A compatible dimmer is also required.
