What is the difference between 12V and 24V LED strip?

A 12V strip has shorter cutting intervals and is often used for small projects. A 24V strip generally experiences less voltage drop over longer runs and may be better suited to larger installations.

How do I calculate the correct driver size for LED strip?

Multiply the strip wattage per metre by the total length. Select a driver with the correct voltage and approximately 10 to 20 per cent spare capacity above the total connected load.

Can LED strip be cut and reconnected?

Yes, most LED strip can be cut at the marked cutting points. Sections can be reconnected using suitable connectors or soldered joints while maintaining the correct polarity.

Why should LED strip be installed in an aluminium profile?

An aluminium profile helps dissipate heat, protects the strip and provides a cleaner finished appearance. A diffuser can also reduce visible LED dots.

Can LED strip be dimmed?

Yes, provided the driver and controller support dimming. The correct dimming method must be selected for the strip and power supply.
