Natural Floor Lamps

Floor lamps work well beside sofas, reading chairs, beds or in darker corners. Position the lamp so it provides useful light without creating glare or obstructing walkways.

Many floor lamps are approximately 1.5 to 1.8 metres tall. The correct height depends on whether the lamp is intended for reading, general lighting or decorative use.

An arc floor lamp extends outward from its base to provide overhead light above a sofa, table or seating area. It is useful where a ceiling pendant cannot be installed.

A mother and child floor lamp has a main upward-facing light and a smaller adjustable reading light. The two lights usually operate separately.

Check the globe base, maximum wattage, shade opening and intended light output. A lighter shade provides more general illumination, while a darker or more enclosed shade creates a more focused effect.
