Pendant Materials

Choose pendant materials based on the room size, ceiling height, bench or table length, finish and the amount of light required. Smaller pendants can work well in groups, while larger pendants are better as statement pieces. Always check dimensions, suspension length and globe requirements before ordering.

Pendant height depends on the ceiling height and where the light is installed. Over a kitchen island or dining table, the pendant should generally sit low enough to create visual impact without blocking sightlines. Adjustable suspension helps your electrician set the final height during installation.

The number of pendants depends on the island length, pendant diameter and the look you want. Two larger pendants can suit a shorter island, while three smaller pendants often suit longer benches. Keep spacing even and allow enough clearance from cabinetry, rangehoods and walkway areas.

Consider the scale of the room and nearby furniture. A pendant that is too small can look lost, while an oversized pendant may overwhelm the space. Check the diameter, height and suspension length, especially for low ceilings, stairwells and areas where people walk underneath.

Black, white and metal finishes are versatile, while brass, bronze, timber, glass and natural materials can add warmth or texture. Try to coordinate the pendant with tapware, cabinetry handles, furniture legs or other lighting finishes for a more considered look.
