Lumens measure how much visible light a product produces. Watts measure the amount of electrical power it uses.

Hardwired ceiling lights, wall lights, downlights, ceiling fans, bathroom heaters, exhaust fans, switches, dimmers and mains-voltage outdoor lighting require installation by a licensed electrician.

Consider the room size, ceiling height, colour temperature, lumen output, energy efficiency and control options. Outdoor and bathroom products also require suitable IP ratings, while coastal homes may need corrosion-resistant materials.
